Ancestor Document

As part of the application process, you will need to provide an ancestor document which identifies the recipient’s ancestor as Irish or as being born in Ireland. We will accept an ancestor document from any country, not just Ireland. Examples of the types of documents we accept include:

  • census record
  • birth certificate
  • marriage certificate
  • death certificate
  • passenger manifest

Many of these ancestor documents are available online.
